STILL OVERSEAS. (Per Press Association). INVEROARGILL, May 24. Sir James Allen stales that the latest figures giving our forces' oversea strength are:— In France 84. In United Kingdom, 1813. Patients in hospitals in United Kingdom, 1797. Married with wives and families in United Kingdom, 1253. Nurses and lied Cross workers to he evacuated 185. Total evacuated -since the' armistice,26,497. POSTING OF OFFICERS. It is officially notified that the posting of officers "from the Expeditionary Force to the Territorials has been suspended. Officers of the Territorial Force,;who after March 25, 1919, are struck off the strength of the latter, will be temporarily posted- to the reserve list, is, which they will retain the rank acquired on active service. This will be regarded as the "suspense" list, from which officers will afterwards be posted to: (a) Active list (Territorial); (b) Reserve officers; (c) Retired list. Those considered unsuitable for Territorial service or'desiring, to''terminate their commission will be retired or otherwise, disposed of. It is intended to accommodate officers from the Expeditionary Force in the Territorial Force with the ranks gained on active service, in so far as the interests of the service will permit, but a general allotment will not be possible till demobilisation has further progressed.
