It showed parts of a h.ugy jpsnjyon in California, and tho effects |ir a* snow storm on it. Views from the drifting clouds were splenir and a general panorama was an aiSeyiispiring s?gh"t. Added to these two excellent pictures there was _ a roaring comedy and an Enslish Gazette, wh'ch were both fully appreciated. Good music was a feature of the entertainment. THE GR'AXD. Setting, atmosphere, and acting are
combined with rare charm in' "The Light WHhin/' shown at.the Grand lust- night, making it an instantaneous succsss. Ths is another production re.c-aj.eil by Madame Olga Petrova's own company and that • distinguished artist- takes the -leading rob''. The story is an original one dealing with [the life of a lady doctor who has discovered a, serum for the cure of meningitis, on which she works, untiringly. Her hilJband has insisted that she g'-ve up her hospital work, and because: of her refusal to do so. sets himself to break her will, making her lifo almost unbearable. Through li's carelessness their young son loses h s life. Later, in seeking to eau'e the death of arrcthcr man, he cuts himself .with ;i germ-laden vial and 3ie come? to an untimely end. The ;:ct".ng tnro'tghout is very clever and many ' dramat'e scenes occur, holding the. sympathetic interest of the audience. ' The, dumb despa'r of the mother on the death of 'her child makes a strong portion of the s*ory, which 01 ga Pe-rova earned through with admirable skill. Another' chapter of ''The Great Secret" was Idhovrn, and again the hero (Franc's X. Bushman) is compelled to undergo some trying; experiences in his endeavours to release his sweetheart from the toils of the hated gang. This chapter is particularly exciting. An Ameriein Gazette is also included in the* bill. NOTABLE ATTRACTION.
