MORE MEN WANTED.
APPEAL FOR RECRUITS. Tho Mayor has received a communication from the Defence authorities, urging .the necessity of accelerating the despatch of men to camp, and requesting that recruiting rallies should be held to make appeals for voluntary recruits to me/afc the present demand for men. Mr Maling does not propose calling any special mooting, holding t'liat.conscription being the law of the land, there is no necessity to start a recruiting campaign, an<3 that men called in the ballot will no doubt, when their turn comes, go forward in just the same fine spirit that h'as been shown in all previous drafts. All that it is now necessary to make known, and sufficient publicity can be given through tlie Press, is that the Defence Department is anxious to get recruits from youth's of 19 and men of C and D classes for tlve. May draft, also that after April 25th recruiting will be open to youths of 20 aud Second Division class B. That is to sav that the Government, being urgently in need 'of men, nncTl at Wie some time wishing to keep faith with promises made tn Second D'vision men. invito those, of the classes mentioned who can do so to volunteer for the May draft.
