APPEAL FOR, HELP. MAN AND BEAST IN NEED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assri. and Renter. Admiralty.—Per Wireless Press. London; Jan. 16. -A Russian appeal to all says: "Immediate help is neceasary. The army is perishing. Famine provisioning ceased. Several regiments are without bread and the« horses are without fodder. Every citizen in Russia- do your duty and work." The appeal directs the Council of Soviets to do everything necessaryi even making work compulsory to ei<snr'e feeding the -armies. It says that the attempt of railwaymen and.others, to capture military food s will be sevrercly punished. M. LENIN. There is' an unconfirmed report current of -unsuccessful attempts to shoot .M. Lenin, in Petrograd. ,
