Yatelman (elders). . > 'J he Moderator extended a welcome to the Rev. Mr Standage, M.A., of Pairlio, and it was decided to associate the Rev. Mr F. Rule, of Christchurch, with the Presbytery. The Rev Mr Stin'son /reported in detail on the work oF the" commission which had been sent to Waimate to make inquiries into certain alterations •to boundaries of that parish, but he suggested'that no change 'be'made in itho meantime. The following suggestions were placed before the meeting by the, commission : Jr (1) That from a geographical <?tandTjoint it is desirable that there he a ro-'ndjnstment of -tjio boundaries of''the charges in the southern part of the .Prpfbvterv. ' (2) That the Waihao Valley charge, having no common centre, and having another "charge coming in between its 'scattered districts, is baidly arranged
for convenient';and 'satisfactory working- - ; (8) That in'view of the almost' unanirfions opposition, of the members -of the Waihao 'Valley charge v to suggested readjustments, the commission dpes not deem 'ic'-'expeHient .'thas< any"** change should" be made at present. ■"> The Rev. Mr Tocker moved the following' amendment to the third recommendation: —"That in view of the future interests <•£ the southern portion of the Presbytery the Presbytery proceed to adjust the boundaries." The amendment was carried. . The first two recommendations of the commission wore also carried. > After much discussion, which was taken in committee, it was decided to call a special meeting of the Presbytery to. go into the matter in hand, and re-adjust everything.. The Rev. Mr Harries reported on a visit of a commission to St. Andrews. The report stated that the work in rhat charge was progressing very satisfactorily. • ' The. renorf was unanimously adopted.
