WAR LOANS.
To the Editor of tho "Timnni Herald.'' Sir, —I sec by the papers thai Sir Joseph "Ward lias brought down a stiatenieiiti of tlio finances of tiro Dominion, and it lias been shown that excess profits have not worked out according to expectations. The worker ami poor farmer have not done as well as was expected, «ind consequently there must bo a change. The Member for Timara has brought down a. scheme which he thinks will work out better. Now as we are aware, or I am led to believe, a note is legal issue. The country guarantees every bank note issued, and therefore it is as good as a sovereign jn gold. The banks are paying very little for tlio use of notes to the Government, while the public guarantee them good. I. am led to "believo that there are about ten million, in circulation in New Zealand, and T would propose that they lend that amount freo of interest to tlio Government, for they are charging more to the public. I liavo no timo for Cnigie's scheme. A school boy would do better. Hoping some bettor pen than mine will take up this matter. —■ I am, etc., A' "WORKER.
