They gave a gieat deal of pleasure 'to the recipients, and the articles presented;were ;mosT> useful. A lislt appended mentioned 90 par r eels and two sacks, and the distribution, by companies, of 2401b5. of Christmas cake. Lieult. P. Howden, O.C. G. Company, 21st Reinforcements, writing at sea on February Ist,. thanks 'the Timaru Ladies' Patriotic Societoy for. a gift of ; baiaclavas, scarves, towels and ~ socks, which had been distributed to the Company. The things were very much appreciated the balaclavas, which was practically indispensable on board, and every man now had ' one. The writer sftates that .they Lad had a splendid passage so far; all were well and were a happy family on board. J 'There is one point which you may be interested ini and th alt is that 'Lava' soap is the only good salt-water soap; every man should bring some with him on board."

Mrs* Gould, Tycho Guild, 2 flannel undershirts, 1 cap. Mrs _ Shepherd, '4 pairs socks. Mrs Crozier, Pleasant Point, 1 pair socks. Miss Edgo, 3 pairs socks. Unknown. 3 pairs socks and 1 scarf. . Mrs Black, 1 parcel (Belgium relief). Pareora "War Guild, 13 flannels, 3 pairs socks, 1 nightingale. 12 sanitsirv shirts, Ifilbs i=>Tn Hisrhfield Guild, 18 pairs socks. Otipua sub-com-mittee.
