WOOL SALES,

The wool at the present sales totalled 59,818 bales 5 . withdrawii by tbe Government, 16,530 bales; and 33,676 bales were sold.

There was a good selection of merino, •and keen' competition "by the Hon!?, American and Continental trade. Prices were m sellers' favour. x

This is the first sale at which expert purchasers were ' allowed. The War" Office allows the United States to take 10,000 bales out of the catalogues, but Americans have only bought r about 1500. Prices are firm, and ;for;s the letter classes dearer. The Bradford market is strong and tending to be higher, though business is small.- ; THE RIALTO. H. AHehurch and Co. report for the week ending March 31st; On Saturday we penned a very large entry of poultry, close on 500 head being put through. .The demand ; for good quality was good, 'out poor quality is hard to sell. Hens brought from 2s to 4s 3d, cockerels (small) *2s to 3s, (medium to good) 3s 3d to ss; roosters (old) 3s to 3s 6d, pullets 5s to ,9s, ducks 2s 6d to 4s 9d, all at per pair. Geese 3s to 4-3 3d each. Turkeys (gobblers) lis each.

■ Pigs.—A good entry. Weaners, small 10s to 15s, medium 15s 6d to 16s 6d, good 23s to 23s 6ach, calves 9s. Produce. —Fowl wheat 13s to 17s 6d, oats (heavy Gartons) 20s. Potatoes, table, 9s 6d to 13s. '•■ Fruit.—The supply is dropping off fast. Peaches realised 2id to 3d in cases, 4d 'in cratesj plums 2d; apples, cooking Id to 2d, dessert to 3d, pears I'd, quinces 1-Jrl,. tomatoes (market firming 1 * Hd to 2d lb. : i e Furniture and sundries sold well at usual market rates.
