RAINY SEASON BEGUN. THE PRESENT POSITION. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. Received 11.5 p.m., April Ist. LONDON. March 31. The rainy season has suspended extensive operations in East Africa, and opportunity is being taken to reorganise the forces, exchange and relieve units, perfect transport, and reconstruct railways. The whole of German territory north J of the central railway is being civilly j administered and is rapidly settling! down.

A small party of wandering Germans was captured on the slopes of Kilimanjaro on March 25. The principal German force remains south of the .Rufig with outposts who are in contact with cur columns. There is more activity in the western area, where the German columns are going southward, engaged by the Rhodesians and Nyassalanders north and north-east of Lake Nyassa.
