Nina Pavloff, one of twin sisters, is adopted by the wealthy Ka renin family. , Twenty years later, "Olga, the other ttyin and her father, a nihilist, plan to, u rethrn to Russia to. avenge their I wrongs. While at a meriting of the I nihilists at Warsaw they arq raided by I tho Chief' of Police, Savaroff. Olga's .fatheris tortured and she consents to buy" his release at the price of herself.
