FROM RENT-PAYER TO HOUSE-OWNER.
The above the wish and desire- df the Dominion House Builders Ltd.. which company has now opened a permanent office in * Timaru, with Mr AViiliam J. Moore as South Canterbury representative. This company was established some two years ago in a comparatively small way. Initial- diifieulties had to be overcome, which usually impede the commencement of any new departure lin but the methods and theory of the company's foundation rose superior to these trials, and successful building: operations soon allayed doubts, and turned the public attention to the merits of the company. The first building to bo erected by the company, was in Duntroon, but now their erections are to be found over the length amd breadth of the South Island, ranging in size from the modest four roomed cottage to the -palatial mansion.
The advantages offered by the house builder's system are easily understood. Suppose, you take the case of a man who Owns a section find finds it impossible to huild. To this man the Home Builders say, "come to us, and' we will fix you up." They will submit designs of a house to suit you, complete it to your design and approval, save you all worry, and hand you over the key of the house finished in the best workmanlike manner. When you take possession, as far as the financial end is concerned, you are asked for no sum of money down, and you wiill be allowed to pay off the house as rent with the payments spread over any period desired, up to fourteen years. This client thus not only gets a home for a weekly rent, but he partakes of allHhe savings Hade by the company, which bring .wholesale buyers of timber, bricks and all building material, and employing their own architect, foremen, and tradesmen, make almost unbelievable savings in every direction; for it .stands to reason that by saving tho difference between wholesale and retail rates, by cutting out comrnissiou to sub-tradesmen, by the price cutting power of big buying, the cost fcf erections by tihe Home Builder's Ltd., must be astonishingly less than those made bv an individual whose one job at a time does not command the wholesale cuts.
To the capitalist, wlio does not require to take advantage of tlie Home Builders easy terms of repayment, the groat price saving in building should appeal. The local manager will be pleased to see all interested in home building, and his company will bo pleased to undertake all classes of building erections. It is worthy of note that the compmiy's buildmg superintendent is Mr K. R. Husband, the well known one time president of the Master Builders' Association, a.nd formerly of Timaru. ... v '
