DOG TRIALS.

Robertson, W. Graham, D. Cuth-bertson/jun.jpt.-McPherson and A. Ballantyne. The 27th annual trials of the kenzie Collie Dog dub were held on Tuesday and Wednesday last, add were a marked success. Beautiful weather prevailed, the arrangements were excellent, and everything passed off mosti succssfully both for the spectators and the competitors. The entries were very gratifying, there beiug 32 dogs in Class 1,31 in Class 2, and 34 in Class 3, and in all some excellent work was done. Some of the entries came from south of Oamaru, and others from, the North Island. The sheep used for the trials were in good fettle, not too wild, and served their purpose admirably. There were » good many onlookers at , the trials, including a number ; of ladies. Mr M. L. Elliot, of Glenavy, acted as judge, and filled his exacting task admirably. Visitors won most of the prizes, and an enthusiastic sport, who camo froni as far afield as Masterton,, was rewarded for his enterprise gaining the President's Cup for best maiden competitor. Mr P. Kane, of ; Ngapara, -won the Crab's Challenge Shield, and accompanying gold medal, for most points, annexing two 'firsts, ono second, and a third, as well as several specials. Mr E. Bussell, of Hakataraniea, did well for his Club, and Messrs A. Curtis and D. Cuthbertson junr., were the most successful local competitors. The novices showed up particularly well, the most successful of these being Bob Robertson, of Fairlie, and W. ~E. Black, of Tekapo. The ladies of the district had a patriotic tea tent on the grounds at which they did well.
