ROCKLAND BASIC PHOSPHATE IS P ARTICULARLY SUITED TO THE SOILS OF THE SOUTH ISLAND BECAUSE—As has been pointed out by practical men of recognised authority: — , . 0 1- —The supply of Phosphates in the average soil of the South Island is Tory limiced. This fertiliser is guaranteed to contain 18 per cent, of Phosphoric Acid in a form readily and completely availa'ole. 1 —The continuous use of Acid Manures such as Superphosphates or Animal Manures, while increasing the supply of phosphates, is a heavy dram "on tho - supply of lime, which is the chief agent in the soil'for neutralising acids. 3. —Where -the supply of lime is limited, the use of such manures will make the soil acid in time, rendering it an unsuitable medium for growing many of our best plants, syclras clover. 4.—"Rockland" Basic Phosphate is° largely an alkali manure containing aconsiderable portion of lime. It not only helps to liberate the potash and nitrogen in the soil, but tends to couu toract acidity and sourness. s.—Unlike Basic Slag, it remains dry and is easy to handle and distribute. 0..: —In an ordinary season its effect is shown in a very short time. Although ! tho phosphates are supposed to bo only in a semi-soluble condition, 'experience i shows that they become quickly soluble again in the soil, thus giving prac- | ticn.'ly immediate results. .
