General Richardson has advised the Minister of Defence, after visiting France to inquire into fhe causes of delay in clearing up untraced casualties that the delay 'is' to the units and -not to the records system. Tho fact tha.t «wne units ennred no casualties quickly showed that others could minimise the delay. RACING IN WAR TIME. A CONFERENCE REQUESTED. OHRISTCHURCH, March 27. The Canterbury Jockey Club has had the question of racing in war time under consideration for. some time past, and has written to other Clubs - soliciting their views on the ..subject. To-day a special meeting of the committee of the club passed the following resolution:—"That the prolonga/tion.df £he war and the serious situation of the Empire is causing a strong and growling feeling among sportsmen and others that early consideration of the racing question is advisable. The. committee of the Canterbury Jockey C*ib are strongly of opinion that racing authorities should approach the Government with ref»irenee to any poosi'.'bl'}.adjustments of racing matters, ■ and with this end in view the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club : urge the president of the Racine Con- j ference immediately to call the Confer- j ence together to discuss the situation." }
