TIMARU RAM FAIR.

HIGH PRICES REALISED. A RECORD SALE. The Timaru Ram Fair which was held under the auspices of the Timaru A. and P. Association, at the Association's grounds at Waimataitai yesterday was the most successful ram fair held here for many years. There was a large attendance of farmers and graziers, and competition was very keen. Practically every sheep in the pens changed hands, and the prices were very satisfactory to vendors. Such a clearance as was effected yesterday was in. marked contrast to the usual state of affairs when a great' part of tho entry has to be turned out unsold. Border .'Leicestejfs ,were most numerous in the entry and they sold exceptionally we 11... The top. price was 22J guineas,, paid for a 1-shear rain; which was secured by Mr R. J. McKeown. of "Kinnoull." Border Leicester frock rams brought up to 9J guineas, English Leioesters up to 6J guineas and Romrieys up to 73 gu'inoas. The keen demand was attributed to the fact that J during the past two years of drought many rams which woidd otherwise have been kept have l>oen got rid of, and ill js now necessary to replace them. There was a total entry of 524, of which we offered 190 smd made a'complete clearance. The pricss realised must Tse considered very satislfac-j tory to breeders.
