IS PARTICULARLY SUITED TO THE SOILS OF THE SOUTH ISLAND BECAUSE —As has been pointed out by practical men of recognised authority:— I- —The supply of Phosphates in the average soil of the South Island very limbed. This fertiliser is guaranteed to contain 18 per cent, of Phosphoric Acid in a form readily and completely availa'ole. -;. 3.—The continuous use of "Acid Manures such, as Superphosphates or Animal Manures, while increasing the supply of phosphates, is* a heavy «Jrain on the supply of lime, which is the chief agent in the soil for neutralising acids. - 3. —Where the supply-of lime is limited, the Tise of such manures will make the soil acid in time, rendering it an unsuitable medium for growing many of our best plants, such as clover. 4. —"Rockland" Basic Phosphate is" largely-an alkali manure containing aconsiderable portion of lime. It not only helps to liberate the potash and nitrogen hi the soil, but tends to coun teraet acidity and sourness. 5. —Unlike Basic Slag, it remains dry and is easy to handle and distribute. (5. —In an ordinary season its effect is shown in a very short time. Although the* phosphates are supposed to be only in a semi-soluble condition, experience shows that they become quickly soluble again in the soil, thus giving practically immediate results.
