MEETING OF OOMMTTEE. A meeting of tie committee of the Timaru Trotting Oiub was JieLd laisrt night. Present —-Messrs' J. Hole, president ,(ih the chaur),. F:' 'Toriie, \V. Quirk, a Scarf, W. Oookson, F. Wateon, J. Gilchrist, and .the secretary (MrH. H._Fraser). The president said he had again to compliment the Club on their very successful trotting meeting. Everything went off exceedingly we'll; there had been on hitch of any land, and tihea most .sanguine of them could; scarcely have anticipated anything better. An excellent programme had been presented and those responsible for it wore to be complimented. The programme had been no hitch of any kind, and the most had 'complimented him over' and over again on it, and ©specially an. the liberality of tflie stakes. . The judge, an honorary one, had Riven every (satisfaction,, and* proved himself exceedingly well placed. Thanks were due to the ground committee for tba excellent track thev had provided. Messrs Kelly and Stccker had put in a good deal of work there, and the result was an excellent track. The Trotting Chit) had to increase their payment to the Jockey Club for the loan of thelatter's course and buildingSi to £l4O. The time would oome, he thought, when they would be able to convince the JockeyClub of the desirableness of reducing: this amount thoilgb. it Was no doubt a great convenience to the Trotting Chib to be able to get the use of so many conveniences as there were on the Jockey Club's. grounds. Mr Hole thanked all who had assisted at the j meeting, aind said that; as a result of it they had about £3OO of a net profit ' to dispose of. It had been decided tfhat | the profit should be, given to one or j more of the patriotic funds. The., secretary _presented a balance ! sheet in connection with the recent trotting meeting.; This .showed an estimated profit of about £3OO. The statement waa approved and adopted, being considered highly satisfactory. . .:'.. A mass of .rdaithie. correspondence was dealt with. In tlhe case of a dishonoured cheque for £5 10s it was decided _to write to the person concerned advising that it must be met at once. The. stipendiary steward advised having imposed fines in- 'seven cases at the recent meeting for late sefatchjing, ;behig late in the paddock, and wearing wrong colours. A fiiie of 20s was imposed in each_ case. ■" Very appreciative reference was made to the good work tee on the course by Mr Kelly and Mr • Stocker, and it was decided to tender them a hearty vote of thanks and the committee's warm appreciation. It was decided ..to leave the alLoca.tion -of tho prof its. from the recent, meeting until the niinual meeting, the' amount to be placed in the Post Office in:the meantime.
