The Rev. J. and Mrs Craig left Pairlie on Thursday morning, and are spending tho week-end in Timaru, en route to Kurow. , The Hon. w! D. S. Mac Donald, Minister of Agriculture, will arrive in Timaru by the firs'D express from Christchurch to-day. In the afternoon he will consult with farmers regarding tho wheat question. The friends of Private Alex. Elder, of. the 24th Reinforcements, N.Z.M.C., will regret to learn that he became seriously ill on the arrival of the Mararoa at Lyttelton on Wednesday, lie was journeying to Timaru on final leave, but instead of coming south he was removed to Lewisham private hospital, Bealey Avenue, Christehureh. On Thursday evening at the Albiu-y Hall a- large number of friends ah<l members of the Albury Presbyterian Church gathered to bid farewell to the Rev. Mr and Mrs Patterson, who are leaving for Lincoln. Mr G. L. Murray, in the absence of the Rev. G. King, took the chair, and in a feAv well chosen sentences expressed the feeling of regret shared by all -at the prospect of losing tho services of their guests. Several other speakers fo)lowocl in a similar strain. Mrs James Austin, on behalf of the Albury P.W.M.TJ., presented Mrs Patterson with several beautiful toilet requisite?! in silver, and Mrs Gainsford, of Cannington, on behalf of that followed with a. morocco handbag. Mr' Patterson feelingly replied on behalf of the recipients. The singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant meeting to a close.
