PARTICULARLY SUITED TO THE SOILS OF THE SOUTH ISLAND BECAUSE—As lias been pointed out by. practical men of recognised authority:— I.—The supply of Phosphates in the average soil of the South Island is very limited. This fertiliser is guaranteed to contain 18 per cent, of Phosphoric Acid in a form readily and completely available. 2.—Tha continuous use of Acid Manures such as Superphosphates or Animal Manures, while increasing the supply of phosphates, is a heavy drain on tho supply of lime, which is the chief agent in the soil for neutralising acids. 3.—Where the supply of lime is limited, the use of such manures ■will make the soil acid in time, rendering it an unsuitable medium for growing many of our best plants, such as clover, d.—"Rockland" Basic Phosphate is hugely an alkali manure containing acousiderable portion of lime. It not only helps to liberate tho potash and nitrogen in the soil, but tends to conn tc-ract acidity and .sourness. 5. —Unlike Basic Slag, it remains dry and is easy to handle and distribute. C. —In an ordinary season its effect is shown in a very short time. Although tho phosphates are supposed to be only in a semi-soluble experience shows that they become quickly soluble again in the soil, thus giving practicr.Jlv immediate results.
