A somewhat serious accident is reported from the Mackenzie Country. Some extensive tree planting was to bo done at Gray's Hill station, and trees were sent up from Tiniaru for tho purpose. The trees, and the men who were going up to plant them were met at the Fairlie railway station by a car which was to convey them to the scene <if the planting. All went well until near Haldon station, when the car in going down a steep liill got out of control. The report to hand is not clear as_ to what happened next, but it is said that everyone in the car, anticipating a capsize, jumped out. with tho result that al! sustained injuries varying from a. broken bone in the foot to serious abrasions about the head and body, and sprained joints.
