EMPLOYERS' FEDERATION.

ANNUAL aiODETING;

(Per. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 27. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Employers' Federation was held to-day. Tho report stated that owing to the necessities of war baving fully occupied the attention of Parliament there had been no attempt to introduce Labour legislation, nor had there been any industrial disturbances of any magnit'udo." There was no increase "in the number of disputes dealt with by Conciliation Councils and tho Arbitration Court. Tho claims during the year exceeded those of 1914-15 period, the lead given by the Court regarding a war bonus having been followed by many employers. Indications were that during the continuance of the war thev would bo considerably fewer in number. Ihe Advisory Board met the Defence Department regarding the holding of territorial camps and after reviewing the whole position had decided that it was inadvisable to raise an objection, ine Department did everything possible to minimise inconvenience to employers and no complaints were received. Owmg toi the war no organising work was undertaken, but after tho war the need tor combination would be more than ever apparent. Both here and in Australia there was a small but extremely dangerous number of men who were apparently doteraiined to seize every opportunity asi zt offered to promote antagonism between employers and work-

They were never stronger than at present, and there, was complete harmony between the Associations and the Executive.

The annual report was adopted, and officers were elected as follows: President, T. Shailer Weston (re-elect-ed); vice-president, T. Ballinger; 'treasurer, H. Coiill; trustees, W. H. Bennett, A. E. Pearee. C. M. Luke and W. A. Flavell; parliamentary committee, members of Advisory Board and S. S. Eirkcnldie, A. C. Mitchell, J. Beveridge. H. J". Alien and. C. Cathie; auditor, W. C. Stephens F.P.A. (reelected) . It was decided that the publication of the Industrial Bulletin should bo continued. " v It was decided.to recommend the Industrial v Union of Employers to nominate Mi' William Kcatt as the employers representative and Mr William Pryor as" deputy representative on- the Arbitration Court. It was resolved that the Government be urged to take up the matter of the orgnm'saton of science in its relation to Industry and Education. It was unanimonsilv decided that the Government be urged to take immediate action for the regulation of enemy trade after tlhe wan*.
