LECTURE TO FARMERS

BY MB, A. M. PATERSON

An 'interesting lecture to farmers was given in the Technical School at Pleasant Point by Mr A. M. Paterson, Government Veterinarian. Tho lecture was under the auspices of the Farmers' "Union, and in the absence of the chairman Mr D. T. Carter presided. The subject taken was diseases in stock, and owing to lambing being general Mr Paterson dealt chiefly with the care of owes during the lambing period. Outside of medical treatment farmers would be well advised to keep their stocks moving from paddock to paddock, he said, as this tended in many ways to assist the health of the flock. Experienced shepherds kept the ewes moving in the paddock where lambing was taking place. Detailed advice was also given as to the treatment of mares at foaling time, and of cows during calving. After the lecture Mr Paterson answered many questions to the satisfaction of those present. On the motion of Mr Garter, Mr Paterson was.accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his lecture, and in reply Mr Paterson intimated that he would be only too pleased to give another lecture at any timet on a subject suitable to farmers.
