GERMANS ENERGETICALLY ATTACK. RUSSIANS REPULSE THEM. Received 10.10 p.m., Dec. 13th. PETROGRAD, Dec. 12. Official.—The Germans made an energetic offensive at Malwa on Thursday. The Russians drove back some columns in disorder. On Wednesday and Thursday a series of desperate attacks were made at Lowier, which Russians repulsed with enormous losses. RUSSIAN ATTACK AT CRACOW. The Russian offensive at Cracow continues. We captured a number of guns and two thousand prisoners. GERMAN VIEW. OF POLISH CAMPAIGN. LONDON, Dec. 12. A Berlin wireless says that much remains to be done before the Russian resistance is broken at Lodz. There is the added, significance of Lowiez. If the Russians are defeated at Lowiez their position is untenable. COLD-BLOODED MURDER. ALLEGED AGAINST GERMANS. Received 10.10 a.m., Dec. 13th. PETROGRAD, Dec. 12. A non-commissioned officer who escaped from the Germans at Lodz states that he and two officers and thirty men wore imprisoned in a stable for three days. Their tunics were removed and they were foodless. When they asked for water the Germans knocked them down and struck them with the butts of their rifles. Finally machine guns were trained on the stable and amid jeering laughter all were killed except three, who escaped by feigning death.
GERMAN ESTIMATE. OF RUSSIAN LOSSES. Received 12.5 a.m., Dec. 14th. . AMSTERDAM, Dec. 13. An official message from Berlin states that the German losses in the Lodz and Lowiez district, and between Pabianice and Hie Vistula were much below the Russian. Our estimate of Russian casualties is 150,000, including 80,000 prisoners sent to Germany AUSTRIAN'S MAKE HEADWAY. ACCORDING TO VIENNESE REPORT. Received 1.35 a.m., Dec. 14th. An official message from Vienna jtates that the Austrians are continuously and victoriously advancing in the Carpathians. They have captured 2000 Russians. The garrison of Przemsyl sortied and captured 700 Russians, 18 machine guns, and a quantity of ammunition. RUSSIANS jOLAIM THE UPPER HAND. PETROGRAD, Dec. 12. The German offensive has hitherto failed in every direction. Sim ous attacks at several points on the Russian centre, right and left wro repulsed with heavy German !oss'ss. The Russians are merely moving troops from * rear to front. The Grand Duke remains in great and menacing strength equally on the front of Warsaw and southward to Cracow. FURTHER CAPTURES. The Russians have Captured an additional 2000 prisoners and four gins southward of Cracow. Considerable Austrian forces have been discovered in the vicinity of tl.. river Dunajee* -
