HOME RELIEF FUND
FOR THE POOR OF GREAT BRITAIN; IRELAND. AND BELGIUM. The objenfc of the Poor of Britain, Ireland, and Belgium Fund, is to provide relief Tor those who are in need of food at, u result of the war, by sending voluntary contributions of moAey, meat, produce and clothing from New Zealand, to be apportioned in such manner as may he considered necessary, in association witTi the committee of the Prince of Wales's Fund. In appealing for assistance on behalf of this fund, the Committee are confident that the response of the generous-hearted people of South Canterbury will be unstinted, and worthy of a prosperous community bound by ties of deep and. enduring affection, to the Motherland. 1 ! The needs of the starving people in Great Britain and Belgium will be severe indeed during the coming winter, and at no time in the history of our Empire has there been a worthier claim for assistance in the relief of distress, i Any help given which entails >seif-.-denial will be given in a noble 1 cause, and will be well repaid by the knowledge that in some .small degree a duty we owe to the Motherland has been fulfilled. It is certain that this entreaty in the cause of humanity will; be equal to a command on the bounty of our people, who will gladly accept the secred duty of helping to alleviate distress and starvation "amongst our kinsfolk and our bravo allies in Belgium. It is intended to forward from New Zealand shipments of food; clothing, blankets etc., for distribution through the agency of The Prince of Wales's Fund, with the co-operation of the High Commissioner in London. Where contributions of money cannot be given conveniently, all classes of food stuff, produce etc., will bo welcome in aid of the fund. HOW TO HELP. Remittances can be mado through *ny member of the Comm:ttee, or for. ivarded direct- to the honorary treasurer, Mr J. Maling, c.o Guinness and LeCren, Ltd., Strathallan Street, Timaru. LIVE STOCK.—Sheep, cattle, pig* etc. The contributors of- live stock will oblige by giving prompt advice to the nearect local comm.ttee concerning ; number aind description of stock to be given. Arrangements will then be made as to when and where the Stock is to bo delivered,- • PRODUCE.—Wheat, oats, potatoes, etc., will be suitable in helping the fund, and full arrangements have been made for storage ot any gifts pending ihipment or disposaL v ■ BUTTER, EGGS. POULTRY may be forwarded through local committees or direct to Timaru. WARM CLv/THING.-— Suitable warm clothing' .should' be sent ' through the : local committees or direct to Timaru.
