The object of the Poor of Britain, Ireland, and Belgium Fund, is to proTide relief for those who are in need of food as a result of the war, by Bending voluntary contributions of money, meat, produce ' and clothing from New Zealand, to be apportioned in such manner as may bo considered necessary, in. association with the committee of the Prince of Wales's Fund. In appealing, for assistance on ' - behalf of this fund, the Committee are confident that the response of the generous-hearted people of South Canterbury will be unstinted, and worthy of a prosperous community bound by ties of deep and enduring affection to the Motherland. ' The needs of the starring people in Great; Britain and Belgium will be severe indeed during the coming winter, and at no time in the history of our Empire has there been a worthier claim for assistance in the relief of distress. Any help given which entails selfdenial will be given in a noble cause, and ■ will be well repaid by the knowledge that in some small degree a duty we owe to the Mo. therland has been fulfilled. It is certain that this entreaty in the cause of humanity will be equal to a command on the iounty of our people, who will gladly accept the secred duty of helping to alleviate distress and starvation amongst our kinsfolk and our brave allies in Belgium. It is intended "to forward from New Zealand ehipmenta of food, clothing, blankets etc., for distribution through the agenoy of The Prince of Wales's Fund, with the co-operation of the High Commissioner in London. Where contributions of money cannot be given . conveniently, all classes of food stuff, produce etc., will bo welcome in aid of the fund.

HOW TO HELP. Remittances can be made through »ny member of the Committee, or for. warded direct to the honorary treasurer, Mr J. Maling, co Guinness and LeCren,. Ltd.,, Strathallan Street, Timaru. LIVE /STOCK.—Sheep, cattle, pigs etc. y The contributors of lire stock will oblige by giving prompt advice to the nearest local committee concerning number and description of stock to be given. Arrangements will then be made as to when and where the •took is to be delivered^ PRODUCE—Wheat, oats, potatoes, etc., will be suitable in helping the fund, and full arrangements have been madasfor storage of any gifts pending shipment or disposal. EGGS. POULTRY may be forwarded through local committees or direct to Timaru. WARM CLOTHlNG.—Suitable warm clothing should be sent through the local committees or direct to Timaru. It is essential that presents'of clothing should be despatched in a clean condition, and various ladies committees have undertaken to" repair and make up clothing to ha forwarded Hecife.
