THE ELECTIONS.

Local Parliamentary candidates will spea:k as follows this evening:— Mr C. J. Talbot, at Oddfellows' Hall, -i Waimate. Mr C. E. Ken-, at Temuka. Mr W. S. Maslin, at Cairow. . MR NOSWORTHY AT RAINGLIFF. Mr Nosworthy spoke in Mr W. H. Orbell's wcolshed on Friday evening to a good number of electors of that portion of the district. He dealt with the subjects mainly of his former meetings and ' was frequently applauded Questions were asked and satisfactorily answered. A vote of thanks, proposed by Mr Aitken and seconded by • Mr' Carter, was carried. SKIPTON MEETING. At Mr Nosworthy's meeting at Skipton, Mr J- McNa>ughton presided, and about thirty were present. Mr Nosworthy spoke on the party's plat, form, including local and Imperial ■ defence, closer settlement, and the freehold policy of Reform, an automatic graduated land tax, a better system of hearing objections to land valuation disputes, Board of Trade, and commerce, the iron and oil industries, agricultural, banks, pensions for the physically infirm and insurance against sickness and unemployment; he also dealt with points touched upon at earlier meetings. Mr Nosworthy received a very attentive hearing, and was frequently applauded. Mr K. B. Tennent proposed a very hearty vote of thanks. This was seconded by Mr G. S. Chapman and carried.

MR KERR AT HAZELBTJRN. There was a. good attendance at Hazelburn to hear Mr C E. Kerr Government candidate for Te-nuka on Fridav evening, and the speaker obtained a most attentive hearing. Mr M. O'Connor, oha.irman of the .school committee, presided and introduced the candidate in a most homely style. On the motion of Mr It. Carter, Mr Kerr was accorded a. unanimous vote of thanks and confidence. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the meeting. j\IR KERR AT OPIHI. At Opihi on the .same evening Mr Kerr addressed a large attendance of electors. Mr J, Goldie, chairman of the school committee, presided. The candidate, spoke for about an hour on the same lines as at his previous meeting, and on the motion of Mr C. J. Stickings, seconded by Mr J.Mackie, he was accorded a. unanimous v o te of thanks with confidence with the Government, which he represented. Hie usual compliment to the chairman closed the meeting. MR TALBOT AT CLAREMONT. Mr C.'J, Talbot addressed a moderately attended meeting at Claremont 'school on Friday evening, a number of residents being absent at the Christchurch Show. The chairman of the school committee (Mr Fowler) presided. Mr Talbot spoke on the questions of the .day,, and gave his attitude towards them. A correspondent writes as follows:Mr J. Anstey, Opposition candidate for. the "VVaitaki seat, is having good meetings in. the south. NGAPARA. At Ngapara on Thursday night Mr Anstey spoke, on the same lines as at Waimate. Several questions were asked and answered as follows: — How would you encourage more wheat growing?— First, by taking off or reducing siding charges, etc.,-,and if ■ that was insufficient ..-by some more direct encouragement. Mr R. Whyte moved that a vote of thanks and confidence he accorded Mr Anstey, and also a vote of confidence in the party he represents. Mr J.. Bews seconded the motion and it was carried. A stroDg committee was then formed to forward the candidate's interests in the district. WINDSOR. One hundred and fifty electors attended Mr Anstey's meeting at Windsor on Friday evening. Mr Livingstone was in the chair. Mr Anstey's speech traversed the entire Liberal platformand criticised in moderate terms the administration of .the present Government. A feature of his two hours', address was the total absence of any recrimination ; of the party whom he opposes. His' | telling logic was none the less forceful in consequence. Yon.rs of successful operations as- a practical farmer and seven years' experience in the Legislative Council stamp Mr Anstey as the ideal representative of a farming constituency. . Frequent applause punctuated the Speech and the vote-- of thanks and confidence waa carried by a majority <sS ten to one. TAKARAHI AND ISLAND CLIFF. Mr Anstey also had good meetings at Tokarahi and Island Cliff respectively. The latter was an afternoon meeting and was attended principally by ladies. The candidate received a vote of thanks' at Tokarahi,, and a vote of thanks and confidence at Island. Cliff.

OTAGO CENTRAL. (Per Press Association.! . . ' n DUNE'DIN, Nor. 15. > Mr Scott addressed the electors of Otago Central at Naseby last night. He defended the Government's.policy and administrattion.
