SITUATION SATISFACTORY. KAISER. WATCHES A BATTLE. PARIS, Sept. 9. The troops at Verdun sortied and captured a. number of supply convoys destined for the fifth German army corps. The Germans have evacuated the hills around Luneville. A Gorman aeroplane dropped a bomb into Nancy without harm to lifo, but many windows were smashed ar.d shattered. The situation is good before- Nancy and in the Yosges. GENEVA. Sent. 9. Telegrams from Basic stat« that the Kaiser, attended by a small staff, watched the battle on Monday from a hill In the neighbourhood of Xancv. MULHAUSEN DISTRICT. LONDON, Sept. 9. An unconfirmed statement from Lasle reports the German evacuation of Upper Alsace.
