Tlie Minister for Internal Affairs, Mr Glynn, has decided to send Sir George Re:d a weekly cable message of Australian news for distribution among the British newspaper.?. Mr Glynn thinks the war has created a livelier interest in Australian affairs. Mr Hinton, recently Commonwealth Commercial Agent at Capetown, cabled to the Government that persons interested in the cargoes of the Apoldo, Hamm, and Birkenfels must enter their claims at the Prize Court at Capetown. Australian consignees desiring representation .should cable to him their names. The Prize Court consented to allow tho Windenfcls to proceed to Sydney to discharge cargo. The New Zealand portion of her cargo will .also be discharged at Sydney for transhipment. HELP LOCAL INDUSTRIES. ADELAIDE. Sept. 10. At a meeting of tin* Chamber of Manufacturers it was resolved, With a view of encouraging Australian manufacturers to increase the plants for the purpose of making goods previously imported from Germany and Austria, thatall Government contracts should prohibit the use of Gorman and Austrian articles for a period of at least twentyone years.
