A poltco ofticer described Ryan as one of tho worst criminals in Australia. Received 5.3-1 p.m., Sept. 10th. Ryan tlso Eveleigh hold-up convict, attempted to commit suicido in his cell by catting arteries in his wrist and anklo with a piece- of tin which he had hidden in Lb clothing. Ho is now in hospital in a weak condition. DROrGHT IN THE STATES. The latest figures indicate that Labour will secure the most doubtful seats. Mr Cook waited on Sir R. MiinroFergnson and handed in the Cabinet's resignation. He consented to continue tßt a new Administration is formed. Mr.Fisher and Mr Hiiphcs havo loft for Melbourne to undertake the form ration of a new Ministry.
