COAST DEFENCE. BY AERIAL MEANS. t LONDON, Sept. o (a.m.). The Navy lias undertaken tli© aerial defence of England,, particularly Louden. Wat-erplanes are continually patrolling the east coast, searchlights are employed at night, and guns against aircraft have been mounted on tlip roofs of Government buildings, with numerous aeroplanes near by for the purpose of attacking hostile craft. BRITISH EXAMPLE. OF TREATING AN ENEMY. The Acting Governor of Gold Coast in a Proclamation on thfl oth of August informed the Chiefs and peoples of the existence of war between Britain and Germany. He reminded them of the presence of Germans who had been many years on the Gold Coast, engaged in useful work. ''Some, of theso are personal friends, and from all we have received acts of kindness and assistance. They are entitled to more than our charity, namely, our chivalry. Let the Chiefs lay a heavy hand on any of their people insulting or molesting these German in ends and guests."' CASUALTY LIST. A further list of sixteen officers kilted, fil'tv-cight wounded j ninety-four missing. Tho' officers killed include Geoffrey Lamhton, tho Earl of Durham's twin brother. CRICKETERS FOR. THE FRONT.
