Tho famous Roslin' Chapel situated in the Midlothian village of Roslin, some seven miles from Edinburgh, narrowly escaped grave injury at the hands of suffragettes. A cannister of gunpowder was exploded on a windowsill of the chapel, but fortunately did little .damage. The* chapel, which dates ' back to abottt 1450. is enriched with a profusion of stone-varying on pinnacles, niches, the vaulted roof and the clustered columns, and especially on the famous Prentice pillar. It is thought that the suffragettes desired to destroy this pillar, _ and its escape is viewed with thanksgiving. t
