Julv 15. lne Wellington Racing Club's winter meeting was opened at Trentham today m wintry weather, but fortunately only 0110 light shower of rain fell diir.na the afternoon. The racing was ot a Liigh class order, and considering tho large fields which contested the jumping events falls were few, only two horses coming to grief, Sportsman and Antarctic, tho latter breaking his neck. Tht) going was very heavy. "There was a large attendance, and the totabsator put through £34,1-16 10s, compared with £25,577 10s on the corresponding day last year.
