YESTERDAY'S GAMES. TE RANG I BEAT ST. MARY'S. LADIES' TALL SCORING, Th& hockey competitions were advanced another stage yesterday, when all the fixtures were got off successfully. Four games were played on the Timaru Park, where the pkiyiug pitches were very greasy, and two matches at Temuka.

SENIOR MEN'S. Te Raugi and St. Mary's met on the Park, and the game ■ was a very Lard one from start to finish. Te Rangi started with a shortage of players, and for a, time St. Mary's had most of the play. Although the ground was difficult some good hockey was., shown on both sides. St. Mary's were "first to open the scoring, and after some close circle play Davies sent a hot drive past Bowkett. St. Mary's with it-heir 'numerical advantage were having the best of the "argument, and'before the spell finished Mason put his team two ahead. Te l Rangi. who were now at full strength, showed up more prominently afterwards, but crossed over two to the bad. . The second spell was a splendid uphill fight by the clark blues, while St.. Mary's also played a desperate game. Radcliffe opened Te Rangi's account, and shortly afterwards the scores were levelled, by the same player. The I game became very even, the'result being always uncertain. Towards the close Te Rangi worked welh into position, and Williams put his team -in the lead. A well-contested game ended in a win for Te Rangi by 3 goals to 2. Mr McOohachie ably controlled the game. Cambridge* and Ge.raldine played a drawn game—3 goals all. JUNIORS. Te Rangi and St. Mary's juniors had a strenuous contest on the No. 1 ground, and the dark blues, as in 'the seniors, secured the verdict. The firsthalf was if anything Te Rangi's, but a little laxity was shown in front oi goal. In the first spell Te Rangi got a lead, W. Holdgate scoring. Tlfe second half was interesting all the way. and even play was witnessed. 'i'e Rangi wore down St. Mary's defence, and Clark put his team two up. After this reverje S't. ' Mary's- liad slightly the better of the exchanges, and succeeded through Grange, in scoring. I wards the clcse tils game became very exciting, St. -Mary's coming near scoring, while Te Rangi also mado several promising rushes. No further scoring was witnessed, however, and the game resulted in a win i'nr T<: Rangi by 2 goals to 1. Mr F Coe made an efficient referee. ' Cambridge beat Geraldine by 8 to 3. LADIES' MATCHES. I Minerva A (10), Minerva B (0). 1 This match was rather one-sided, as j the score indicates, the A's having an ! easy victory. The scorers were Mis.s i Foster 5, Miss T. Webster 4, and Miss Gould 1. Mr E. Penrose ably acted at referee. St. Mary's A (11),•T-emuka (1). Temuka played three girls short, and paid the penalty dearly. St. Mary's had t-ho bu'.k of thr>'p-lay, although several of the country team showed very good play. The scorers for St. Mary's were Miss Quick 4, Miss -Seo-nr •'*: Miss Mc-Whirter 2, and Miss Cook 1.. while Miss Monaghan scored lor Temuka. Mr McCouachic ably controlled the game.
