CHARGE 0F THEFT.
AGAINST A WOMAN. EXTRAORDINARY DEVELOPMENTS. A case presenting extraordinary features was heard a;, the Police Court in Wellington on Tuesday morning, when May Sidon, on remand, appeared on a charge of theft cf £5 from Charles Cecil. Inspector Hendry asked for a further remand. "1 am sorry," he said, "but Cecil, the principal witness, has completely disappeared. We have searched everywhere for 'inn:. but have not found him. It is an. extraordinary case. 'The man gave every assistance for three days while we were looking for tho woman. We iind her, and in a few hours Cecil completely disappears. The whole tacts are extraordinary. ,lt is an astonishing case, full of astonishing features." Mr Jackson for accused, admitted that the facts were certainly very un-usi-al. He asked for a reduction of bail. His Worsiiip: Any objection, Inspector ? Inspector Hendry: No. As a matter fcf fact some of the evidence is slightly in favour of accused. A remand was granted for a week.
