THE OAT MARKET. Concerning the oat market the "Oamaru luaU" says: —In oats circles a better fueling was man-test m tne 'eanier portion of last week, and any lints >oi good, heavy A bartons whicii happened along found ready purchasers, the incentive being the reduced lreignf on the Home steamers and tiie prospect of doing a payable export business, fluctuation on the London market has, however, swung tlia pendulum a shade to tho adverse side, and for the moment it looks as if the advantage gained by way of a cheaper freight is to be nullified by reason of a. falling price. The market closed firm on Saturday, but merchants are not so sure now that- there will be any great improvement, as was the case when tho prospects of an- export trade at a payable price first presented itself. In themeantime Oamaru merchants intend making the best possible use of thc-( Hoine markets, and by the Mamari, which loads here on the 18th instant, at least, 3500 sacks will be shipped.
