WILLOUGHBY'S FAREWELL PERFORMANCE. . Last night Messrs George Willoughby's clever dramatic -comi>any played their farewell piece, this be.ng the evergreen and ever-popiilar East Lynnc. Mrs Henry "Woods's novel, from which the play is dramatised, is so well-known that to describe it would he su perilous. Sufficient to say that in the hands of tli:s company it is most capably handled and, with the addition of a few amusing Lttle interludes, it proyides a most entertaining evening's amusement. The two principal artists, Mr George Gross and Miss Vera Retaee, Mere again seen to advantage, this time in the roles of Archibald Curlyle anrl Lady Isabel, his wife. The management are to be complimented upon having two such clever and fascinating artists in their company. The enunciation of both was all that could he desired. Of the oilier characters Miss Oriel Hotson. as Miss Barbara Hare, was very good. Si eit was who had loved Carl-re and she found it a hard blow when lie returned to East Lynn.e with another for his 1 ride. Mr Arthur Alberts, as Carlyle's confidential clerk, wa.s well place:!., and his impersonation of the trusted servant who had "just turned sixty" was ex+remelv clever. Mr Ward Lyons. as Lord Mount Severn, acted well, and in the third scene of the first act l o trnint?d. reception from the rutdience by' Eys surrender and approval of the' marriage of hisniece. The other characters were all ably sustained. The onmnmv to-dav for Oamaru where, they will apnear to-night.
