TEMUKA TECHNICAL CLASSES.
MEETING OF BOARD OF | MANAGERS. A meeting of ike Board of Managers fox - the Temuka Technical Classes Association was held on .Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs M. McLeod (chairman), G. Cartwright, AY. F. Evans 3 D. Mclnnes, p. A. Acheson, M. H. McLecd A. Frew, F. Saunders, G. Thomson and J. Bambridge. The Director reported that he had obtained a plan and estimates for additions and alterations to the wcol ,and art rooms. The cost would be about £BO and an application had been made to tho Education Board for this amount. He also reported that the wool dressmaking, cookery and painting classes had. either started or were about to start, with satisfactory attendances. ! \ A cheque for £l2l 15s 7d, subsidy and capitation due, was received. Mr R. Grant, the Timaru Director, wrote stating that he had made arrangements .for Mrs Ellis to visit Temuka on "Wednesday afternoons for the purpose of conducting classes and that lie .might also arrange for her, to get off on Thursday afternoons, in which case the Temuka Association would be required to relieve the Timaru Association of a guarantee of £2O to the Education Board. It was decided to apply for Mrs Ellis's services for Wednesday. A cheque for £lO was received from the Canterbury Sheep Owners' Union towards the school funds. It was stated by the Director that without taking into account the amount voted by the Sheep Owners' Union the shearing classes account showed a deficiency, and it was resolved tha.t a statement showing " the' financial position be forwarded to the Temuka Branch' of. the Farmers' Union which had guaranteed -the Association against loss in running the classes. _ The chairman said that the Education Board's workmen would shortly ba engaged in finishing the interior of the Borough School and suggested that the Board be asked to have the interior of the' Technical school renovated at the same time. The Director was instructed to write to the Education Board, requesting that the work be done. ' Messrs Acheson and Bambridge wo to appointed'a visiting committee for the ensuing month, and after passing accounts amounting to £4 4s 6d the Board rose.
