MR BENTON'S DEATH. ANOTHER ACCOUNT OP IT. Press Association—By Tel. —Copyright. LONDON, March 23. The British Consul, Mr Percival, reports that an investigation disclosed that Mr Benton's death was not due to pistol shots. Mr Percival does not state the exact cause of death, but it is believed he wishes to infer that Mr Benton died of stab wounds. The report adds that Mr Benton appeared before General Villa unarmed. Received 10.15 0.m., March 24th. WASHINGTON, March 23. Mr Perceval further reports that Mr Benton disregarded the advice of his wife and friends and visited Villa unarmed. A scuffle occurred in Villa's office; perfect quiet Mowed; and the body was later removed. The Consul infers that Mr Benton was stabbed. He does not state who the stabber was, tut it is thought likely that it was one of Villa's officers. BATTLE OP TORREON. FURIOUS CANNONADING. ■ MEXICO CITY, March 23. The batle of Torreon has begun. Villa has captured the outside position. Furious cannonading is proceeding The whole of the surrounding country was protected by wire entanglements. Villa reports the capture of three hundred prisoners.
