SYDNEY, March 22., Friday night's deluge caused many thousands of pounds worth of damage and one death. The rain was the fiercest for thirty-six years. Seventy points fell'in four and a half minutes. The streets were turned into rushing torrents. Water invaded shops and houses; thirty tram cars were derailed in different parts of the city andsu.bwsbs; an ancient aboriginal burying ground at Manly was gouged out and Jiones and skulls unearthed and exposed. A man named Knight was driving home to Parramatta when the storm water washed his horse into a creek and Knight was drowned. Steady rain has been' almost continuous since the storm.
