A boatload of ladies hoaxed the army detectives who guarded the Ministers at Brodrick Castle. They rowed a small boat in the direction of the landing stage, frantically waving a green fiag. The police lined the stage to resist them, and the ladies, enjoying the trick, rowed away. The detectives were unappreciative of the jo're. THE LORD CHIEF JUSTICE. Renewed reports of Lord Alverstone's retirement elicited from him a telegraphed reply that he has no communication to make and no information can be given. MUNICIPAL THEATRES.
