It seems a long time since the Timaru Borough. Council was tentatively discussing the question of whether the fire brigade- shoiild 'be brought under the separate' control of a fire board. of an extension ladder high enough to serve three-storied buildings, of which; a- correspondent reminds us, there are now a. considerable number in Timaru as compared with the position a few years ago. This is a requirement which should certainly be supplied as soon as possible. Though the number of boarding houses of three storeys, to which our correspondent specially refers, must he very few, the brigade should have equipment capable of subduing any fire that might break out in the borough.
