TO VISIT TIMARU. CIVIC RECEPTION. The Mayor told the Borough Council last night that the Hon. Yv". F. Aliissey, Prune Minister, would be passing through Timaru on Thursday nevt, and suggested that tho Council might givo him a civic reception on his return from the south tho following Thursday.

Councillors thought the suggestion a good one, and decided that such a, reception bo given. Councillor Angland said the reception should ho independent of any political party.

The Mayor and Councillor Pearson also said that it was very important to keep tho gathering clear of party politics, and other Councillors agreed. The Town Clerk was asked to" write to the Prime Minister inviting him to come to Timaru. ■-&.-.--. v-..-.-.
