AMUSEMENTS.

FULLERS' PICTURES. The Theatre Royal was again well filled last evening. Excellent films were clearly shown and tho orchestra played a number of attractive selections. ' "The Eternal City," contain* ing many beautiful" scenes of ancient buildings, statuary and bridges of Rome, was one of tike -finest of its kind shown in Timaru up to the present time. The drama waa a strong feature of the programme, and several first-class films of this class were screened. A most interesting and instructive film was one depicting the manufacture of incandescent gaa mantles. The processes from the weaving to the finished article were well shown. Pathe's Latest Gazette, of which the chief - feature is ttio Royal Progress of the Bang through Isadora is the chief item, proved most interest ing. In thiß gazette some aeroplanes are seen in full flight. This afternoon a matinee is to he given. The budget should prove a delightful one to the young folks, for -there are some ex«eilent_ comics, and these are always enjoyed by matinee oudiencees. Th same programme -will be shown this evening. SKATING. To-day will be tho farewell day of 1911 for the wheolists of Timaru, the closing of the season. All day, the rink will be open and special provision will be made for a liberal supply uf skatesj so that tho certain keen demand will be satisfied. In t'lia morning, the little ones will have a last chance to glide round tho rink and tho grown-ups will doubtless mako ; most of tho closing "flutter," afternoon and evening. To-night, Deputy-Mayor Hawkey will present tho prizes won at Thursday's carnival.

HAYWARD'S PICTURES. Hay ward's. still hold the unchallenged reputation of taking particular cave of tl» little folk at the Saturday matinees, and it is pleasing to ooto that the management now specially choose the subjects to he shown to the .children, tho programme comprising .chiefly coloured films of light romance, pretty nature studies, wholesome comedy and dramas of a sensible and. moderate .type. To-day's matinee will be held as usual and a typical series screened. Last evening "The White Man's Door" series was shown to a large house, which greeted tho varied and excellent films with 'enthusiastic applausei. The New Zealand animated record will be included in to-night's programme. k GARRISON BAND CONCERT. i The concert which the Garrison Band is arranging on behalf of' Dr. Barnardo's Homes promises to be a. huge success. Tho cause for which it is boms given is in itself sufficient to ensure a good audience, and when to this is added the quality of tho programme, it will be a matter for surprise if Wesley Hall does not prove far too small for those who wish to attend on Monday night. The public have subscribed generously to this fund. already, but here i» a way in which the fund can be materially helped, and every helper will receive full benefit for the admission charge. The Garrison Band will contribute several items. The Band have been working hard through tho winter montlis, and have prepared several big contest selections for their summer concerts. On that night they will play that lino selection " William Toll," the test piece at the Australian and New Zealand championship contests. They will also play a catchy plantation selection introducing singing, whistling, laughing, etc, and give a beautiful arrangement of the hymn Sandon, every instrument having /omo pleasing work to do. Messrs Ellis Wood, 'cello, Mr J. W. Wood, violin, and Mr Fiahwick, piano, will play Beethoven's "Trio in E-flat; Rev. A. E. Hunt will contribute the monologue, "Christmas Bells"; and solos will be rendered by snch popular singprs as Miss Anderson. Mrs H. Hall Mr Sid. Gilchr.'st, and Mr Will Dickson. Tickets, one shilling each, can be procured at Messrs E. Pratt's, Budd's, and Hilton's, and from several others.
