Kent has regained the ascendancy in the championship. AVIATION. NEW YORK, August 17. Attwood, the aviator, has accomplished 500 miles of his journey from St. Louis, to Boston. In his flight he beat the express trains several times. He was obliged to abandon his intention of carrying a passenger, as when the aeroplane was rising, it brushed against a tree, the passenger falling to the ground. Atwood traversed 120 miles on Thursday en route to Boston. He declared that he almost went to sleep with the monotony of the journey. DONALDSON v. HOLWAY. SYDNEY, August 18. Donaldson and H'olway are matched to run 130 yards for the championship of the world at Sydney on September 23rd. A hockey match between the Ashburton and Timaru Girls' High Schools will be played on the Titmaru Girls' ground to-day, at 11.30. Dixon, Lowo, and Beamish will sail from London for New York on Aug-ist 2tvi, to play in tho Davis Cup preliminary. The annual football match between the Ashburtou and Timaru High Schools will bo played at 10.45 this morning on the Rectory Grounds as the Athletic Ground is "not available. The Ashburton team, is much better than usual, but Timaru hopo to increase last year's score. The game is sure to be a fast one, and a large attendance of spectators is expected.
