Subsequently a settlement ; was reached. All the Liverpool firms engaged in coasting, including the dockers' loaders, arc convinced that the whole strike will be settled to-mor-row. The crews at Liverpool are joining the liners in "anticipation of a settlement of the dockers' trouble. There was a fresh outbreak of fire on tho Arabic, and two successive outbreaks on tho Canada. HULL IN STRAITS. FOOD RUNNING SHORT. One hundred and fifty vessels are idle at Hull. Thousands of people are jparad;ng the streets holding meetings to-day, and collecting for the relief fund. Many grocers are unable t-o supply flour on presentation of charity tickets by foodlcss people; hence■> the dockers have decided not to interfere with the removal of foodstuffs from the warehouse? to shops. Some Hull have been diverted to the Tyne to unload. The corn market at Newcastle is almost blocked with*whea.t, which is held at an advance of from 3d to 6d. English wheat rose a shilling. Flour is scarce and getting dearer. LIVERPOOL DOCKERS' OBDURATE. Received 9.40 p.m., July 3rd LONDON, 'July 3. The strike committee at Liverpool 'promised that if the recalcitrant dockers resume work wherever the union was recognised they would support them in their effort to obtain union, rates, unless these were conceded before the end of the month. ' The recalcitrants however are unwilling to obey. Tho steward of the Canada has been arrested in connection with the fires. ATLANTIC LINERS TIED UP. Owing to the striko tho steamer Empress of Britain, aboard which are Sir "YY. Laurier and the Canadian contingent, are unable to sail. The liner St. Louie picked up her mails at Queeiistown. HULL NEWS. FOOD GOING UP. Flour at 3 lately Is 6d, is now 2s 2d per stone. Butter is almost exhausted, and sugar has risen a farthing per pound. Tho railway-men have resolved to strike if they are asked to deal with transit goods handled by blacklegs. A sectional meting of strikers at Hull resolved to resume if the employers, besides their recent offer, augmented all dockers', wages and met tho representatives of all sections to discuss, the settlement of their grievances. Mr G. R. Askwit-h has been invited to re-open the conference.
