A punishing finish, necks separating the placed horses. NAPIER STEEPLECHASE, of 225 aovs; 3 miles.—Wiuiata 1, Lull 2, To Arai 3. Also started Eldorado. Mount Cook, Xavior, Lingerer. Mount Cook ran off, Xavier and Eldorado fell. Won by a neck, Te Arai a long way back. Lingerer was the only other horse to finish. Time, 7min 10 1-fiseo. SETTLERS'- HACK HANDICAP, of 80 sovs; 0 furlongs Perceler 1, Fuss 2, Ortygia 3., Twenty ran. Won on the post by a noso; a good third.
