The Dukes of Fife nnd Argyll, Lord Strathcona, several Bishops, Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, General Booth and others, have issued a « l{ public morals " manifesto, dealing with question of the birth-rate and pernicious literature, and urging the necessity of education in tho duties of parenthood. Tho manifesto declares that the tendencies of the ago make it imperative that the young should be taught high conceptions of marriage. UNION OF SCOTTISH CHURCHES. The General Assemblies of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church sympathetically discussed a report of a joint committee upon union, ordered it to be printed, and commended it to the serious considera* tion of the people.
