There was a good i attendance, and Mr F. It. Gilliugham, 1 County Chairman, was votod to tho ! cliair. . . j In opening the nscetiug the oliairman j referred to the progress of tho town ' and district since the Coronation of • tlie late King, when celebrations of an • extensive nature wore held. It was for the meeting to decide what stcp3 should ; be taken iu marking the occasion. Should any money raised be spent in •lotting off fireworks, or in erecting some ; permanent memorial? Mr Gilliugham informed tho meeting that the Govern- I moat would give a subsidy on donations j towards certain permaneut improve- [ m-cuts. Mr Banks thought that it would ho ' a mistako to spend any great amount on firework?. Some pormnncnt improvement should bo made that wouldr K> a ro.nl memorial to King George's Coronation. He movod that gates, be placed at the Strathconan Recreation Grounds. This was seconded and discussed, and then amendments cam© in. A stronger ! fire boll was put aside because a. bell ] would carry no subsidy. A drinking- , fountain was mentioned. Gates .-'t the entrance to tho Domain in the riv-sr- ' bed. a place visited by tourists, were : mentioned and put aside, because the Domain Board could provide gates of its revenues. Mr Hoskipg proposed gates for the school grounds, and Mr McCaskill promptly seconded this, hot "no subsidy" spoiled ite chimces. On the proposals being put to the , votes that for erecting entrance gates j to the new Strathconan Recreation .Grounds was carried. I The following were appointed a-\ committee to collect funds and infer , mation ami to report to a future ing of the subscribers:—Messrs Banl:s, P. Beaton, C. Talbot, AY. Sheeraxi, G. Martin, AY. Hosking, and H So lihwick.
