FOOTBALL. On Thursday afternoon a team from G'>raldiue went to Woodbury .nd playeo. the local club. A fast and exciting game from the spectators' ■point of view eventuated, and resulted in Geraldine winning by a slight margin, the score being Geralfiine 13, \\oodbury 12. Sir J. Chapmun was an impartial referee. HOCKEY. BANGdTEA V. GERALDINE. The Rangitea Club, Ashburton, sent a team of girls to play against the Geraldme Ladies' Club on Thursday afternoon, and! an exceedingly interesting match resulted in a viotory tor the Pioneers by 2 goals to nil. A good fast game was played, from a spectator's pointof view one of the best seen at Geraldino. During the first spell the Ashburton young ladies pressed their opponents on several occasions, but no score was obtained In the second', spell, Miss Mason shot a goal for Geraldino after, \i capital piece of piny, and shortly before, time was called Miss ft. Bates scored another goat for Geraldine .these two- wero conspicuous throughout tho match, playing keenly and well and never losing a chance. Mr ieely refereed. ,
