GABRIEL'S GULLY.
SUCCESS OF THE JUBILEE,
Per Press Association. LAWRENCE. May 24. The Gabriel's Gully jubilee celebrations wero continued to-day, in splendid weather. This afternoon a sports meeting and at«even a side football tournament attracted several hundred people. A number of races for pioneers wore held and entered into with great spirit. This evening a complimentary dinner was held and very largely 'attended. The toost of the. evening xraa "The Men of '61," which was proposed'by Mr J. 0. Browne, secretary of the jubilee ooromifctee, and responded to by several pioneers. At the close of Hie gathering the pioneers showed their appreciation of the.efforts of the Mayor of Lawrence (Mr James Robertson) in bringing the celebration to_such a successful issue, by prosentinpfhim with a gold watch and locket. A presentation whs also made to Mrs Robertson. To-morrow tlio pioneers will be tendered a picnic in the afternoon, and a smoke concert in the evening.
